Well, the clocks have been turned back so the Advent Fayre is only a few weeks away, plans are well in hand for this year’s event.
Live events will be in the church as before.
For the first time, we welcome Jaimie’s Musical Theatre Showcase! Performances by talented young singers, including songs from Les Miserables, Hair Spray, Show Boat, A Chorus Line, Sound of Music, Funny Girl and more. Destined to lift the spirits as you listen to some musical favourites.
Need advice about the health of your pets? Make sure you don’t miss our local Vet, Geoff Irvine from Purbrook Veterinary Practice. He has again kindly agreed to a Q & A session on those things that are bothering you. Come along, advice is free.
Keith Fisher, will be available to explain all about the connections Christ Church has with D Day, and its role as a D Day church.
Gospel Road Community Choir will be giving us another one of their wonderful performances, guaranteed to get us all smiling.
We will also have our Prayer Tree and a quiet space in the church. The tree has become an integral part of our Advent and Christmas celebrations. We encourage everyone to write a prayer and attach it to the tree. Prayer can be very powerful.
The Kids’ Corner will again be set up in church for the young ones where they can take part in craft and activities throughout the afternoon. They can have fun, while you relax with a cuppa and enjoy the entertainment.
In the Hall there will be plenty there to help you get ready for Christmas and where you will find all your favourite stalls – books/DVDs, bric a brac, cakes/sweets, crafts, decorations, handbags, jewellery, toiletries, tombola, toys/games).
Our Grand Raffle just inside the hall, offers Christmas hamper prizes of all kinds, including, wine, chocolates, Christmas treats, gifts. Don’t miss out, make sure you buy your tickets on the day.
We will also be offering refreshments in both the hall and the church. So don’t forget that cuppa and snack or a piece of homemade cake.
We always welcome volunteers to be part of the day. With so many activities taking place there is always something that helpers can do and/or donate. If you haven’t been involved before why not have a word with one of us and see how you can help.
Sweet making – we need icing sugar, desiccated coconut, condensed milk, cooking chocolate, 70% cocoa solids chocolate and stork cooking spread, perhaps you could add something to your shopping list?
The tombola is one of the most popular stalls, so we need lots of prizes with a Christmas theme, do you have any gifts, sweets, bottles or jars you could donate?
Perhaps you could help us set up or give some time to be on a stall? Or assist with refreshments?
So as we look forward to Advent and the lead up to Christmas, we want to once again, welcome people from our local community and beyond to an event where they can see God’s work in action. Remember, admission is free. The proceeds from the day will go towards repairs and maintenance for our beautiful church.
If you need any information or wonder how you can help please speak to one of us.
God bless you, we look forward to seeing you there!
